Description

This book compiles all the Lithuanian hillforts photographed by Balys Buračas, featuring 184 hillforts documented between 1923 and 1965. It includes not only photographs of hillforts but also sacred sites, forges, cemeteries, and burial mounds—all the objects that the author referred to as hillforts, or colloquially as "pilės." The publication aims to present all of Lithuania's archaeological monuments captured by B. Buračas, thus concluding with photographs of ritual stones. The images are complemented by narratives and legends about the hillforts collected by B. Buračas himself, along with descriptions of the hillforts.
