ISBN 978-609-478-048-6The National Museum of Lithuania presents a collection of ethnographic negatives by ethnologist and museologist Marija Znamerovska-Priuferova, which reflects the ethnic culture of the inhabitants of the Vilnius, Bialystok, Polesie and Naugarduk Voivodeships in 3rd and 4th decades of the 20th century in a variety of ways. The negatives of the images she photographed between 1928 and 1936 were stored in the Ethnographic Museum of the Stephen Batory University (now Vilnius University), where she worked at the time. When the Ethnographic Museum was closed in 1939, the negatives, as well as other exhibits, were handed over to the Vilnius Ethnographic Museum (now the Lithuanian National Museum). Some of the photographs were published in the scientific works of Znamerovska-Priuferova herself and other researchers of ethnic culture on certain topics. This publication is the first to present all the themes.
It includes introductory texts and a thematic catalogue of ethnographic images.
