The second part of the publication Lithuanian National Revival and Education in Vilnius Region is devoted to the history of Lithuanian education in Vilnius Region. The book contains documents and photographs of Lithuanian educational institutions operating in the territory occupied by Poland in 1920-1939. They include images of the Vilnius Vytautas Magnus Gymnasium, the only Lithuanian Gymnasium in the province, the Švenčionys Gymnasium, the rural schools and reading rooms maintained by the "Rytas" Society, as well as the activities and lives of teachers. This iconographic material is an important visual and historical document that testifies to the difficult situation of Lithuanian education in Eastern Lithuania. In the conditions of that time, the path of education chosen by the Lithuanians of the Vilnius region was a very significant and probably the only possible way of political struggle and aspiration, expressing the inherent right to speak one's mother tongue and to live in one's own native land.
