Traditional Lithuanian Instruments

Description

The exhibition "Lithuanian Traditional Musical Instruments" in 2018 was dedicated to the anniversary of the Lithuanian Song Festival "In the Name of..." and the centenary of the restoration of Lithuanian statehood. It featured all types of instruments and photographs from various Lithuanian museums, institutions and private collections. This publication is a catalogue of the anniversary exhibition. It is also the first time that the National Museum of Lithuania's collection of traditional musical instruments has been presented in a wider context. It is hoped that the material presented in the publication will contribute to the revival and preservation of instrumental music traditions, encourage craftsmen to make old instruments, and folklore ensembles and performers of traditional and contemporary music to play them.
