Description

This publication is dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuanian independence. Three symbols - the flag, coat of arms, and anthem - reflect the sovereignty of the state. The goal of this book is to collect the most important milestones in the history of the "Tautiška giesmė" (National Hymn) from its creation to the present day. The Lithuanian anthem is unique in that its lyrics and melody were written by the same person - Vincas Kudirka, a doctor, fighter for Lithuanian press, flag-bearer, poet, and one of the greatest figures of the first national revival. The iconographic material in this book is rich and diverse: the first editions of the "Tautiška giesmė," arrangements, postcards with fragments of the anthem, photographs of V. Kudirka monuments or their details with anthem inscriptions, posters, and more.
