Description

This issue of the National Museum of Lithuania's yearbook "Numismatics 18-21" contains articles on private money of the late 18th and mid-19th centuries in the eastern territories of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the creation and minting of coins of the Republic of Lithuania of the 1936 and 1938 issues, and the forgery of seals of the Lithuanian customs (1919-1940). New finds of coin hoards in Zemgale are published, and hoards with coins of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from the 16th and 17th centuries, found in the territory of Georgia, are discussed. Additionally, new finds of counting tokens from the Vilnius Mint, lead seals from Krosno fabrics and the awards and badges of Mykolas and Vaclovas Biržiška are presented. Forgotten facts from the history of numismatics and philophalleristics in interwar Lithuania are recalled. A bibliography of Lithuanian numismatics from 2012-2015 is presented, and numismatic publications from Lithuania and abroad are discussed. The chronicle provides an overview of Lithuanian numismatic events in 2017-2020: anniversaries, exhibitions, conferences, etc.
