Description
On 11 November 1918, the State Council of Lithuania approved the first provisional Cabinet of Ministers of the State of Lithuania, headed by Augustinas Voldemaras. It was located in Vilnius, St. in a house numbered 13 on St George's (now Gediminas) Avenue. The first and second governments were made up of 17 well-known politicians, experts in their professions and defenders of the interests of the state. On 2 January 1919, the second Cabinet of Ministers was forced to move to Kaunas, where it continued its work of consolidating independence and forming state institutions. The book, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Government of Lithuania, contains documents and photographs of the first Cabinets of Ministers in Vilnius. On the occasion of this honourable anniversary, the composition and development of the subsequent Governments in 1918-1940 and 1990-2018 are also briefly recalled.
