Description
Stasys Šilingas, the longtime Chairman of the Council of Lithuania, Minister of Justice, organizer and leader of many public societies and unions, was actively involved in the public activities of Lithuanian students in his youth, collaborated in the press, and edited several journals and newspapers. The book is based on essays published by S. Šilingas in the press, sparse letters written to artists, writers, and media collaborators, as well as letters from exile. Additionally, the publication used laws and other legal acts published in the Government Gazette, documents stored in Lithuanian archives, letters, essays, and memoirs of public and political figures of that time.
The book attempts to provide a broader and more detailed introduction to the undeservedly forgotten figure of Stasys Šilingas, a politician and public figure of Independent Lithuania. It aims to highlight the most significant moments of his meaningful life and tragic fate, revealing the main features of his public, political, journalistic, and cultural activities.
