ISBN 978-609-8039-69-6The Lithuanian National Museum, in collaboration with the Diocese of Telšiai, organized two exhibitions in 2013 and 2014: "History of the Samogitian Diocese" and "Signs of Samogitian Baptism," dedicated to the 600th anniversary of the Samogitian Baptism. Based on them, this book was prepared, supplemented with abundant historical and iconographic material not exhibited in the mentioned exhibitions and often unpublished, collected from Lithuanian museums, archives, and churches, revealing the interesting and lesser-known past of the Samogitian Diocese.
The book consists of two parts: the first part describes the Samogitian Diocese from an institutional perspective, while the second part presents the Catholic life traditions and practices of Samogitia during various periods.
The publication is intended for a wide range of readers – not only specialists in various humanities fields but also anyone interested in the history and cultural heritage of the region.
