Jan Bu\u0142hak (1876\u20131950), the most prominent photographer of Vilnius landscapes in the first half of the 20th century, spent almost his entire adult life in this city. Settling here before the First World War, he worked as the city's photographer, bearing witness to and participating in its life \u2013 his camera captured historical and cultural events, photographed historical figures and ordinary residents of Vilnius, church and ethnographic festivals, and documented architectural landmarks.<\/p>\n
The first book of the three-volume publication Vilnius of the National Museum of Lithuania is dedicated to the most important theme of J. Bu\u0142hak's work - immortalizing the old city.
