ISBN 978-609-8039-48-1The books "Mail in Lithuania until 1918: Shipments, Postmarks, Stamps" and "Mail in Lithuania 1918–1940: Establishment and Activities of the State Post, Stamp Issuance" are the result of long-term collaboration between the Lithuanian National Museum and the well-known Lithuanian philatelist Vygintas Bubnys. The preparation of these two books was made possible by the extensive factual material collected and the meticulously compiled collection of envelopes and stamps by V. Bubnys.
The first book aims to comprehensively demonstrate the development and changes in mail communication in the 18th and 19th centuries, when Lithuania was divided among different states. It shows the role of mail in the economic, cultural, and social life of society, as well as its significance in the context of world postal history. The book seeks to reveal how postal communication is related to events in Lithuania from the 18th century to the 1920s, the policies of the states ruling this region, and the society's opportunities to communicate by mail at that time.
